A small Columbus team, from first sketch to final walkthrough

Elevate Remodeling is a design-build company offering kitchen remodeling in Columbus, Ohio, along with baths, basements and whole-home work. Owner Michael Freed founded it in 2016.

He is a Columbus native and Ohio State graduate who has worked in remodeling since 2012, starting with hands-on construction.

Most remodeling companies pass a project from a salesperson to a designer to a crew of subs. At Elevate, the same small team stays with you from the first conversation to the keys.

Clients often mention the communication. One Westerville homeowner wrote that the communication was outstanding from the initial consultation to the final walkthrough.

Kitchen Remodeling

Full remodels, layout changes and lighter refreshes, from a 1960s Clintonville ranch to an Upper Arlington colonial. Recent kitchens added waterfall islands, white oak shelving and a 36-inch Wolf range. Most Upper Arlington kitchens take six to ten weeks from demo to walkthrough.

Amish Custom Cabinetry

Cabinets are built to order by an Amish cabinet maker in Ohio. They use plywood boxes, solid wood face frames, hand-cut dovetail drawers and soft-close hardware, in maple, oak, mahogany or alder. Any Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams color is available, or a custom stain.

Bathroom Remodeling

Primary suites, hall baths, powder rooms, tub-to-shower conversions and aging-in-place updates. Expect frameless glass, custom tile, heated floors and Amish-made vanities. Most Upper Arlington bathrooms run three to five weeks, depending on the plumbing and tile scope.

Basement Finishing

Family rooms, guest suites, gyms, offices and wet bars. The team handles framing, electrical, egress windows and full bathrooms, including trenching the slab for plumbing. Most basements take 6 to 10 weeks of construction after design and permits.

Whole-Home Renovation

Kitchen, baths, living spaces, flooring, trim and finishes handled as one design by one team. Michael helps you decide which walls can move, where storage belongs and how the house should flow. Work is phased so you can plan around living at home.

What you get when you hire Elevate

01

An exact quote, not a range

After the consultation, you get a 3D rendering and a real number tied to a real plan. The price changes only if you add scope, with no change-order-later routine.

02

The owner on site

Michael leads design with you, manages trade coordination and stays on the job to the final punch list. You are never handed to someone who missed the design talks.

03

Permits built into the schedule

Columbus, Upper Arlington, Dublin and Worthington each run their own permit reviews. Elevate pulls the permits and plans those timelines in from the start.

Licensed trades and a warranty

Licensed tradespeople do all mechanical work, which is inspected before walls close. Elevate is insured and gives a one-year workmanship warranty on top of vendor coverage.

Meet Michael Freed

Michael Freed started Elevate Remodeling with a simple idea: homeowners deserve a remodel built on transparency, communication and craftsmanship, not surprises and excuses. He has worked in remodeling since 2012, moving from hands-on construction to leading full design-build renovations.

That field time means he knows what is likely behind your walls and what a realistic timeline looks like. Michael lives in Upper Arlington and leads design with each homeowner using in-house 2D and 3D renderings.

The team's site supervisor is Waffles, a dog who makes sure every project is up to snuff, always in his best bowtie.

  1. 01

    In-home consultation

Michael comes to you, walks the space, asks how you cook and gather, and gets a clear read on your budget before designing anything.

  2. 02

    Design and selections

Layout drawings and 3D renderings come first, then cabinets, counters, tile, appliances and lighting. Approving the shop drawings locks your design and price.

  3. 03

    Permits

Elevate pulls permits and schedules inspections with your city, building each jurisdiction's review time into the plan instead of finding it mid-project.

  4. 04

    Construction

Demo through final clean with one team and one point of contact. The jobsite is left organized at the end of every day.

  5. 05

    Walkthrough

Before your Columbus kitchen remodel

Is the consultation free?

Yes. Elevate offers a free design consultation with no pressure and no obligation. It is an in-home visit, not a showroom appointment. Michael walks your space, talks about how you cook and gather, and gets a read on your budget range. After you reach out, expect a reply within one day.

How long will my kitchen be out of commission?

Most Upper Arlington kitchen remodels take six to ten weeks from demo to final walkthrough, depending on scope. Design, selections and permits come before that. Bathrooms usually run three to five weeks, and basements take 6 to 10 weeks of construction after design and permitting. Projects with a bathroom or egress window run toward the longer end.

Where are your cabinets made?

In Ohio, by an Amish cabinet maker, built to order for your kitchen. Boxes are full plywood with solid wood face frames, hand-cut dovetail drawers and soft-close hinges and glides. You can choose maple, oak, mahogany or alder, painted in any Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams color or finished with a custom stain.

Will the price change after we start?

Only if you choose to add scope. After the consultation, Elevate creates a 3D rendering of the proposed layout and gives you an exact number tied to that plan. For fully custom cabinets, shop drawings are produced, and your approval locks in both the design and the price before anything gets built.

Do you work on older homes in Upper Arlington and Bexley?

Yes, often. Pre-war homes in Clintonville, Bexley and Old Arlington usually have plaster over wood lath, cast iron waste lines and one small original bathroom. Michael's construction background helps him plan for what is behind those walls. Elevate pulls permits with the City of Upper Arlington, including egress and electrical inspections for finished basements.
